What customers say?

“ What a hidden gem! Run by primarily French nuns, all food locally sourced , with most grown or raised on sight. Had the duck French style and the good Sister assured me that it was very happy up until the day before. Expect to stay 1-2 hours for dinner-for instance my duck was a 40 minute prep time. Get there early, spend some time walking the grounds, visiting the gift shop, and contemplate life in the Chappel-you will usually find one or more nuns or monks in prayer. Yes, it's out of the way, but we can't wait to go back. ”

“ The best chocolate croissant I have ever eaten. Warm out of the oven. Followed by French toast, bacon, sausage, bread with salted butter and a snack tray. Coffee was rich and wonderful. Really a special place. ”

“ I found this place on Maps, and really wanted to try their duck, but after reading how long a meal takes, it was just too much time to sacrifice for the amount of adventuring we had in the area. I had a full days itinerary already planned out (which we inevitability overshot, as we always do, lol), and arrived back home far later than anticipated. The location is beautiful and unique. The food looked and smelled amazing, and I'm positive would be well worth the time and money. The staff are friendly and courteous. On our next trip to the area, I'll be sure to set aside the extra time to be able to enjoy a meal here. I also plan on telling everyone I know about this unique location. I know at least a few people that would make the long drive from our area to experience this wonderful location. We did purchase a few items in the shop. Their coffee meringues are delightful! Definitely a must-visit when in the area! It's a rarity to find an establishment such as this outside of the major cities. ”

“ Being served home grown, homemade French cuisine by French Nun's is an unforgettable culinary experience. There is a small wait time between courses, but it's absolutely worth the wait! ”

“ This place was incredible. What a find while traveling in the driftless! The nuns are kind and welcoming, the food is tremendous, and the church is beautiful. This is a place that is a bit slower. Hang out with your loved ones, get a whole bottle of wine, order the cream sauce, get the dessert, enjoy the evening. It’s a delicious and unhurried retreat from the world around you. We did not make a reservation but were informed that some nights they are busy enough to need it. Most things, including meat, are grown/raised on site. They are certified organic. All proceeds go to feed the poor. ”

“ Incredibly unique, very remote, very delicious. A slow peaceful meal made with care. Worth the trek. ”

“ Breakfast was great. I just showed up at 7am for breakfast before a day of trout fishing. Sister Mary was an awesome host…so friendly. She opened the front gate to the parking lot promptly at 7am. Food was excellent…among the best breakfasts I’ve had in a while. Highly recommend the experience and proceeds support their food bank and outreach to those in need. They had a unique beer, wine and cocktail menu. I definitely want to make it back for a lunch or dinner. The menu looked awesome. Note that all are welcome and reservations aren’t required (though possible). I was just wearing clothes I was fishing in. It’s very cool dining experience and open to all. More people really need to check this out. Just go and give it a try. A hidden gem. ”

“ Absolutely phenomenal!! My husband and I had the duck confit, fresh garden salad, wine, beer, french press coffee and tiramisu for dessert. What a gem of a place! The Sisters are doing an amazing job! And the Chapel of the Divine Mercy, stunning! We will be coming back everytime we are in the Driftless Area. Loved loved everything! ”
